Vanuatu Golf Course
Test yourself on tour
 in the Vanuatu Golf Open

August 10 – August 19 2020

Travel with the 2016 Vanuatu Open Professional Champion & 2018 Runner-Up Aaron Cox

The Vanuatu Open is a four round event with a maximum handicap of 36 for men and 45 for ladies. Players in B and C Grade play a Stableford event with their best three of four rounds to count for the tournament.  A Grade players and Professionals compete on Stroke over all four rounds.

In 2020 the event will play host to the 36th Edition of the Vanuatu Golf Open and for the Professionals there will be for a total prize purse of AUD$50,000.

The Port Vila Golf and Country Club is the perfect setting for this event. With arguably the best greens in the South Pacific this course will impress you with its quality and its surrounding beauty. With fairways dotted with palm trees and edged by the ocean, relaxing on this course will not be difficult. That is not to say the strategic bunkers and layout won’t test your skill. Hire a caddy who will provide you with local knowledge, care for your clubs and climb coconut palms to find your ball should you require it.You can choose to play in the social Pro-am which is held the day before the first round of the Open and provides you with the opportunity to familiarise yourself with the course and meet some of the other players.

The event is opened with a cocktail party on the eve of the social Pro-am, which is an occasion not to be missed.  This is where you confirm your registration and might even be able to get a sneak peek at the draw.  If you are a non-golfing partner your social membership allows you to enjoy the events of the week including the cocktail party, the calcutta evening and the final presentation.

The first two days of the Open are a reverse draw, meaning you will play in the morning field on one day and the afternoon field on the other with the same group of players.  At the completion of the second day a draw will be prepared.  All players, in their respective handicap grades (A, B and C) will be seeded based on the results of the first two days and the highest ranking players will fill the afternoon field.  This provides the chance for high ranking A grade players to play in a group with a number of Professionals in the final two days and further test their abilities under the pressure in a Major event..

The final presentation is held following the completion of the fourth day of play and a dinner is provided.  Celebrate alongside the locals from Mele Village who turn out in force to watch the final day of play and share the evening together.

One of the great things about the Vanuatu Open is the opportunity to hire a caddy.  There are many dedicated local caddies who make themselves available to assist the competitors each year. They will share their knowledge of the course, care for your clubs and give you tips if you ask for them. In the past some have even climbed coconut trees to look for balls, bringing coconuts back down with them as a refreshment for their golfer. A very unique service!

MangoesWhen in Vanuatu, Pro Golf Experiences stays at Mangoes Resort and The Terraces.  Mangoes Resort (pictured left) offers Bungalow style accommodation and is strictly adults only.  The Terraces (pictured below right) offer luxury apartment living for those wishing to relax in complete comfort. The private plunge pools overlooking the lagoon will soothe you after your many rounds of golf.  Those staying at Mangoes will not miss out on the chance to soak their muscles as they enjoy the multiple shared use pools. The friendly staff at Mangoes and The Terraces provide exceptional service and cater to your personal needs with a smile.  The restaurant offers great variety and is open early so that you can eat your breakfast before you depart for the golf course on your early tee off days. You can also indulge in an in-room massage or two but make sure you book in early as this service is extremely popular!

On your days off you will not be short of activities to choose from.  For a small entry fee you can visit the astonishing Cascade Waterfalls, swim in the tranquil natural pools and have lunch and a cocktail or two.  If you are game you can even choose to abseil down the waterfall.

You will be accompanied by PGA Professional Aaron Cox who will also be competing in the event with you and will manage the logistics of the week. Together I will ensure your golf holiday is everything you hoped for and more.
